Every Cocooner had been eagerly awaiting the middle of April 2019, when our long awaited team trip to Milan was planned. Finally it happened, and we spent three awesome days at Milan Design Week. After those great days, it’s now time to look through our thousands of pictures and digest all of the wonderful experiences we had between April 10th and 12th.

There are not many events in Europe, if any, like Salone del Mobile where all thinkers, designers and makers can soak up tons of inspiration and also get easily frustrated not only by the impossibility of being aware of all the worthwhile exhibitions to see, but also not being able to physically visit all of the places that are on their personal bucket lists…

Despite the rainy weather, we walked dozens of kilometres along the streets of Brera and Tortona where the majority of Design Week’s sights are concentrated. Even the little of what we saw, heard and experienced was still a loooot…  and it was really hard to choose a few highlights to fit this post.

Besides the many stunning exhibitions and experiences, we truly enjoyed Mauro Porcini’s public lecture „Design-driven Innovation“. We wish we could summarize the importance of emotions and the “human factor”, sensitivity to cultural influences, and the general thinking behind design in the same intriguing way as the charming Italian PepsiCo’s Chief Design Officer did. Nevertheless, we are happy he values the same traits of a perfect „designer“ as we do at Cocoon – being a good human being, having a holistic design approach, business savvy, being visionary yet practical, entrepreneurial, having a high EQ + empathy, being respectful, a risk taker, a change agent, and a design thinker. (The list is taken from Mauro’s conclusion of whom he seeks for his team - the best talents ever – with no exception, of course.)

His main contribution to the creative industry is that he not only believes it is the right way of doing things; he actually does it and lives it!

Additionally, here is some footage of the Cocoon team wandering the streets of Milano and Design Week itself. Viewer discretion is advised. ;)
