One Thursday afternoon we moved from our home Holešovice to the underground of the Dům uměleckého průmyslu (House of Arts Industry), today DUP36, to look back for the last year.

In Prague, of course, there are lots of places filled with inspiration, but it is hard to find a more convenient venue, from whose genius loci would more intensely emanate a desire to create, than DUP36 - an unfinished place filled with imperfect content. DUP was originally build to support industrial designers, artists, schools and small entrepreneurs and prior to World War II, it served as an administrative building and a display of Czechoslovak design. Today, this functionalist pearl, better to say its underground hall, thanks to a few enthusiasts serves as an alternative space for everything and for everyone. It is a space where commerce is confronted with art, technology, and man. It has to inspire, to demolish and to create. So, to evaluate Cocoon's activities in 2016, it was more than significant place.

The year 2016 was in a sign of change. In addition to branding and design projects for our clients, we have started completely new things. Outwardly perhaps the most visible was the change of our own identity stemming from a new vision, from what we perceive as the real Cocoon’s purpose - we want to inspire ourselves and the world around, we want to connect creative people and companies, all for whom creativity is passion. Truly creating means having freedom, that is why we have invested a lot of energy and resources into our own and partner projects, whether it's ICIA – Intellectual Capital Investors Association or MIWA - the technology concept of selling goods eliminating the use of disposable packaging.

It is vital to our growth in 2017, that we still believe our vision and continue to persuade our clients that designing is not just about making graphics or giving things shape, but that it is a way of seeing "problems" and, most importantly, how to deal with them within a co-creative process engaging all participants - clients, designers and consumers / users.
